This is the part of the site nobody reads until something goes wrong. Fair enough. We'll keep it short and in plain English.
Who We Are
CountMeOut.ca is a volunteer project. No company. No legal entity. Just people who run a website about the Canada Census and the Lockheed Martin contract.
We're not lawyers. We're not accountants. We're not affiliated with any political party or government agency. Nothing on this site is legal advice.
What You Can Do Here
Read anything. Share links. Print pages for personal use. Quote from the site as long as you say where it came from. Link to us from your own site, social media, forum, or email list.
Basically, the normal stuff. Treat the site like you'd want your own site treated.
What You Can't Do
You can't copy the whole site and republish it as your own. You can't sell the content. You can't use our name to promote something we haven't endorsed. You can't scrape the site with automated tools to build a competing product.
You also can't use the site to harass anyone, post threats, or do anything illegal. If you're using our content to cause harm, that's on you, and we'll cooperate with anyone who has a legitimate complaint.
Accuracy
We try to be accurate. We check our sources. We correct mistakes when we find them. But we're a volunteer site and we don't have a fact-checking department.
If you spot something that's wrong, tell us. If you disagree with our interpretation, that's fine too. We post what we believe based on what we know. You're free to draw your own conclusions.
Nothing on this site is guaranteed to be complete, current, or applicable to your specific situation. Use your own judgment.
External Links
We link to news stories, court documents, government pages, and other sites. We don't control those sites. We don't endorse everything on them. If a link goes somewhere you don't like, that's not on us.
Links also break over time. If you find a dead link, let us know and we'll try to fix it or replace it with an archived version.
Comments and Submissions
If you send us something, whether it's a comment, a news tip, or a file, we may publish it. By sending it, you're giving us permission to use it on the site. We won't sell it, we won't share it with third parties, and we'll respect a request for anonymity.
We reserve the right to not publish anything we receive. Not because we're picky, but because some things don't belong on a public site.
Privacy
What we do with your information is covered on the privacy page. Short version: we don't collect much, and we don't sell anything.
Changes
These terms can change at any time. If we make a significant change, we'll note it on the blog. If you keep using the site after a change, that counts as accepting the new terms.
Liability
We do our best to keep the site accurate and available. But we can't promise it will always be either. If something on the site is wrong, or if the site is down, or if you act on something you read here and it doesn't work out, we're not responsible.
Use the site at your own risk. That's the standard disclaimer, and in this case, it's also just true.
